Symbian brand
Symbian OS was an open source operating system for Nokia devices, maintained by Symbian Foundation. Symbian World was the brand concept developed by Spigit, London-based agency. It was an illustrative scene, in which various characters represented technology and community.

Original illustration from brand book

I worked as Creative Designer on the Brand team. My role was to apply and develop newly (then) launched brand. It required graphic design as well as illustration skills.
Web & print
I executed multiple projects across printed and digital media. It included main website for several locales, various mini sites, annual report, book covers and many more.
Illustration and character development
I designed paper models based on Symbian World inhabitants, developed mascot characters for partner companies and illustrated desktop calendar, a community giveaway.
Sub brands
Alongside the main Symbian brand I was also designing identity for internal programs, events and sub-communities.
Collaborations
For the office branding project I invited Wojtek Otecki, mural artists, to paint our office walls. We collaborated on the design that at the end was a collage of initial Symbian World, my illustrations and Wojtek’s artwork.
Merchandise & events
Symbian Foundation was present on various industry event. We were also hosting our own annual conference - Symbian Exchange and Exposition (SEE). For these occasions I worked on booths design, presentation materials and merchandising.
Animation & storyboarding
We often worked with external agencies to produce videos. I worked on the storyboards to plan the narrative and give layout directions and sometimes did the animation too.
Recognition
My work from the desktop calendar was included in the 2011 AOI Association of Illustrators - Best of British Illustration (currently World Illustration Award) catalogue and was shortlisted to 2010 Design & Advertising Design Award in the illustration category.
